Wow this year is going fast. So much is happening in Muggle life and regular life. Well in April we finally made it to the Wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal in Florida. OMG! it was soooo much fun. This has also been my Summer of Ravelry. In June, Mr. Pettigrew and I went up to San Franciso for the day and met up with Knottyred, a Ravelry heart sister, who was down from Canada. In August, we are going to Boston where I will meet up with more Ravelry heart sisters. It's been a fun Summer.

And all of my Hogwarts groups are going into full swing. HSKS is taking an extended hiatus, maybe permanent-kinda sad. But HLBOE is getting started and I am Head of House once again. We have a new term at Hogwarts at Ravelry with a new headmistress and I remain a Prefect. And I am hoping to jump back into Reducio sock swap and I have finally joined the HP house cup group, which I have contemplated joining for some time now.

Oh and only 14 more days till the final Harry Potter movie comes out, but soon Pottermore will begin. Yes I am still a geek. I love my knitting and my Harry Potter, but it keeps me sane.

Well HSKS has finished and we are taking a hiatus until Spring but HLBOE is getting revved up and ready to go. This year I will be head of house for Gryffindor. There are only three of us in our house but that's okay, we'll be a busy three. Three Musketeers we will be. This year's theme is something for the kitchen. Can't wait to get started.

Oh my goodness, the most awesome package was on my front porch today from Acromantula (daisymum) Look at all the awesomeness. First off everything was in a Gryffindor bag and inside was some lovely yarn, a needle case, a small project bag and a mesh bag with soap. And needles and notions. So many circular and round items to represent Tom Gaunt's ring. I love all of it and don't even know where to start...... Oh, Oh and do you see the popcorn, chocolate, tea and coffee.

Wool, Wool, and more Wool

Well I finally started the hand-made item. I needed to buy wool as I am doing a felted project and I still didn't find all the right colors. But I did get enough to get it started. Once I get past the set-up phase then I am hoping it will go quickly as I am getting down to the wire. But I will get it done. I don't sleep much :-) and I am really hoping she will like it.

Whew crazy busy times, Muggle life so get's in the way, but things are starting to fall together. I am hoping to make the early send period for sending out my package, but if not it will be real soon there after. I think I have finally decided on something felted. Don't want to reveal too much but if it is half as nice as I envision then it will be perfect. Well off to knit.

We are at the half-way mark and things are plugging along. I still haven't decided on Ambyr's hand-made item but I have all the other stuff coming along quite nicely I think. Gonna stalk some more before I make a final decision.

Well I lost the duel by about an hour, but I was forced to try a pattern that has been on my to-do list for quite sometime now and I think it came out quite cute. Definitely one I will try again.

Another week and I still haven't made a final decision on my handmade item for Ambyr. Oh, all of the rest is coming along nicely but as for the hand-made item, still not sure which way I wanna go. I have about three or four different ideas. May do more than one.

Well it's a three day weekend and Hubby and I are going to the Huntington Gardens and Library on Monday and I am hoping to get some inspiration.

Well it has been a busy week in both my Muggle and Magical World. I haven't had time to do any home-work assignments but I have been busily planning my package and a RAOK and all kinds of fun stuff. I am off for a weekend retreat and hope to get lots of knitting done. Well I really hope Ambyr likes what I have planned for her.

Wow I can't believe another week has come and gone. Where did it go. Well I didn't get the homework done but I am remembering to blog.

I have several ideas for my handmade project and I am still pricing it out but I am hoping to be able to accomplish 2 of them. As for the other goodies, well those are almost already picked out and finished.

Can't wait to start dueling and sending out a RAOK but right now I am off to scrapbook. Next week will see lots more getting done.

Week 1, Getting to Know you.......

Getting to know all about you..................

Well it's time to get started and start getting to know everyone. So what can I say about me. I love to knit. I also do some crochet. I love to be on my computer, either on Facebook or Ravelry. My all-time favorite color is red. I also like most jeweltones. I like all colors really. I like wool and wool-blends but I can find a pattern and use almost any kind of yarn that I find, yes, even fun fur. I LOVE Popcorn, plain, air-popped. Eat it everyday. I also like milk chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels. Candy corn. With exception of popcorn, my snacking goes by my mood.

I will be married 22 years in January. I have one teenage son. We go camping once a month and we have had annual passes to Disneyland since 1989 and we go often.

HSKS 12 Begins!

Well the new term begins. This term we are separated by houses and we are searching Horcruxes. It is time to banish Voldemort once and for all.

I have been selected as head of Harry's Horcrux Hunters! Our colors are Scarlet and Ebony. For short, I call my family the 3H crew!

I am really looking forward to this term and hope to have lots of fun!

Another week, whew! where does the time go. Well my homemade item for Clara is done but man-child came up with some embellishments that I feel must be made, but they are easy and should go quick. The hardest part is done. Now to finish the shopping and put it all together.

and!!!! I won this weeks drawing for a free gift from Hermione. I sooo cannot wait to see what I get. It's like Christmas :)

HSKS Update: Wow! week three already. I need to get my tukis moving. I have the pattern picked, the yarn selected and pulled out of my stash and the shopping list for the extras, now just gotta get caught up and moving on it. I love the pattern and if it comes out cute then I think a few of my "muggle" family members may be getting one for Christmas.

HLBOE Update: Again, got the pattern picked but I need to yarn shop for this one. It's another easy but looks like time consuming knit. Thankfully, I have a little more time for this one.

Well I've made weekly contact with all the peeps I need to make contact with. Now back to my job as an auror for Defense against the Dark Arts.

First week of Camp!

Whew! first week of camp is almost over already, oh boy. I have been stalking Clara and I have the pattern picked out, now to just find the perfect yarn..... We are going "muggle" camping this weekend and I intend to do some "treat" shopping for some items local to include in my package. I hope she will enjoy it all.

HSKS-Summer Camp has begun-Whoo Hoo

Well it's gonna be a very Harry Potter Summer between the new term of HLBOE and HSKS Summer camp. I am also the new Gryffindor Prefect for Hogwarts at Ravelry and busy running my own group Once Upon a Time. Muggle life is busy as well but I love my Harry Potter and I love my swaps. Well so one of the assignments is "getting to know me" so as suggested, I am posting some of my favorite things.

Knit or crochet or both? I mostly knit, but I do enjoy crochet amigurumi
Brands you would like to try but don't have easy access to? Oh, I am near several local yarn shops, Michael's and Joann's, so I have alot of access, but I tend to buy cheap for myself. The good stuff comes from my spoilers and I am happy with whatever they choose to send.
Favorite fibers/least favorite fiber? I don't like tofu yarn. I don't use much cotton either.
Favorite colors/least favorite color? I don't care for neons and baby colors, all other colors are lovely. Jewel tones are my favorite and of course RED is my all time favorite color.
Yarn weight preferences? DK or sport
Favorite project? I make socks, mini-socks and beannies, but I will try most things at least once.
Favorite gadgets? kacha row counters
Favorite designers? I have so many, I have faved several on my ravelry page

Yay! my package from Catriona was on my porch when I got home today and look at all the goodiness. She picked my favorite character Luna, whom I just love because she has such a kind and pure heart. There is a felted bag to keep a small dragon. My Smudge has already settled herself in and gotten comfortable. A manual for New Wizards, boy I could have used that for some of my homework this last term. Cork necklace and radish earrings to keep the Nargles away.

And look at the snitch bracelet. There was also some great stitch markers, yummy, yummy yarn! tea candles, lip balm, lotion, a puzzle.....oh it keeps going.... a sock inspired-Nagini tote pattern and some harmony circluars.

Thank you Cat soooooooooooo much! I love it all!

wow term is almost over. I am almost done with Emma's package. I'm finishing up my sock project then I can start putting it all together. I was hoping to have it out by the early send period but my Muggle life got in the way. Plus, I'm shipping international so I have to wait til payday to send out. But it's gonna be grand. Well tomorrow I am playing Quidditch for Hufflepuff. Well must go and post the weekly points for our house and get our supplies ready for Quidditch. Oh I hope I have enough ink in my printer.

Quidditch

Well, I am actually bloggin early this week. We had a Quidditch match on Sunday and got whooped. Man I think we would have had better luck against the Whomping Willow! The Ravenclaws played an excellent game though and deserved the win! We had a Hufflepuff and Slytherin helping us out as well.

Another week, my package is coming along well and I am starting to get anxious to send it out. I'm still waiting form some stuff I ordered on-line and I am going to pick up a frew "treats" next week during my trip to San Francisco but I certainly hope Emma likes it all.

Whew! just made it. I was waiting to blog as I have been busily working on my handmade item for Emma. I got the main part done and now I just need the embellishments, which I will work on tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon is out second Quidditch match. We have several people unavailable but thankfully we have had volunteers from other houses. And of course I can play if we need someone to fill in. Well my package is coming together but I am starting to feel the panic that I might not get it done in time. Got a sewing project to finish too. Well, time to do those embellishments. Will post pictures in our Common room as soon as I'm done.

Whew! almost forgot to blog this week. Didn't have time to get to the Potions homework though. Been busy in Muggle life. I have everything purchased and picked out for Emma's handmade item, just need to get started. I did start another preemie hat for our SPEW project. I am liking this pattern so far and will post photos when done. Well we have another Quidditch match next weekend. Need to get my team amped up and ready to go.

Wow another week gone by. Where does the time go? Well we had our first Quidditch match on Saturday and were doing really well but low and behold, the Hufflepuff Seeker, Rowan Dragonsinger, caught the snitch and Hufflepuff won the game. Good game though and you couldn't ask for anything more. Well as for our dueling matches, Havelock ended up in the hospital in the muggle world and will most likely have to forfeit and Intarsia put up a good fight but her opponent got the best of her. But its okay cause we gavea good show and represented Gryffindor with pride.

Well Emma's package is coming along. I ordered something special that came in the mail today and it came out really really nice. Can't wait to send it. I ordered something similar for me too.

Been working on baby hats for our SPEW project and everyone is doing a great job in that area as well. Well I guess that's it for now. Will post more later and maybe some photos too.

Well another week has come and gone and have I gotten started on my handknit item for Emma? Nooo, I know what I'm going to make and I have the yarn and pattern all ready to go. Just need to get 'r done. I have ordered a few custom items that I think she is going to love and can't wait till they arrive.

Well being Head of House is work but so much fun. My Gryffindors are a quiet group of students, hmmm, wonder what shenaningans they are up to.

First day of classes

Well it's finally here, first day of classes at Hogwarts. I am a third year student this time around and have been recently named Head of House. I have a lovely prefect, Cassandra Goode, hopefully the two of us can keep our merry band of lion cubs happy and having a good time.

So we begin with assignment number one. To describe why I picked the characters that I picked.

1-Luna Lovegood, she has such a pure heart. She sees the good in people and the world as having a glass half full. She is not afraid to be different and does things she loves and enjoys no matter what others think.
2-Remus Lupin, he is a tortured soul with his curse as a werewolf and wants so much to lead a normal life. He is afraid to love (Tonks) for fear that he will hurt her. But they do resolve those issues eventually. And you can always have fun with a werewolf theme.
3-Sirius Black-my all time favorite, HP character and actor period. He is misunderstood, falsely imprisoned but always true to Harry and the order in-spite of his family connections and their pure-blood mania. Besides, who can resist a big fluffy black dog. Hmm, don't know if I can ever forgive JK for killing him off, but ah well, what doesn't kill Harry makes him stronger.

Well off to class now, don't want to be late for Potions. Professor Snape is in an unusually foul mood today (ha, as if anyone can notice one from the other).

Back to School!

Well the start of term is finally here. I arrived early to set-up the dorm room and make sure all was in order. I am really anxious to see who will be coming back to school this year. Cassie and I will have our work cut out for us keeping everyone on track and on assignment as it seems when we all get together we just want to visit and chat and have all kinds of fun. We are doing character themes this year. I am thinking our first assignment will be to post why we picked who we picked and what we like about that character. I will have to start thinking about my choices and post something myself.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Whew, It's been a busy few weeks. The holidays are just around the corner and my knitting needles have been flying, trying to get things done. We are going to AZ this weekend for Ed's family party, the office party on Wednesday, the Court Christmas Party next Saturday and the following Saturday the girls are coming over for baking and crafting day. It's gonna be busy.

Dragonsinger received her swap package and I am so pleased that she liked everything. I always worry that my spoilee won't like my taste, but so far so good.

We finally go the tree up and I will post photos later. But need to finish wrapping gifts that will be going with us to AZ.

Owl's Away

Well Tyto took off on his flight to Heavener, Oklahoma today to deliver a package to Rowan Dragonsinger. I so hope she likes everything I included. I can't wait till it arrives.

Of course this means that the term is slowly coming to an end. I always hate end of term. It's so quiet on the boards when the term is over and I have being on Holiday. Well, off to knit some more.

Where is Winnie?

Well Winnie is traveling to some interesting places this week. Some fine examples of modern and ancient architecture. First she traveled to Dubai and visited a library shaped like a book. Now that would be something neat to see. After that she went to Giza, Egypt to visit the pyramids. To me the photo she posted reminded me of the movie "the Mummy" with Brendan Frasier. I wonder where she if off to now.

Well our Miss Wartbobble continues on her travels this week. She went to three different places, unfortunately I can only guess at two of them. The third location has way too many posibilities. So here is what she reports......

1) her first location was to a capital city built on a lake that has dissappeared to celelbrate "Dia de los Muertos" Well.........she is of course at Texcoco, Mexico. Modern day Texcoco, Mexico is where the original Aztec Capital Tenochitlan was built. It was built on the Lake Texcoco in the Central Mexican Plateau of Mesoamerica. Modern day Texcoco is the east of the current National Capital, Mexico City.

2) her second location is a Windy City where kites are built and flown and the home of a pink library. Well there are many windy cities, chicago for one, but Seattle, WA has a pink marble library, so I am going to guess Seattle, WA.

3) her third location is a Northern Coastal City that hosts an annual multicultural carnival. Oh my, could she possibly be in Brazil?

Well those are my guesses and I am sticking to them.

Well this weekend is Halloween AND Daylight Savings Time, which means and extra hour of sleep on Sunday, Yeah! I love this time of year. The weather is getting cooler and fireplaces are burning and we will be camping at the beach in the next few weeks.

I made my godson a Halloween Hat this week. I don't think he'll wear if for very long but that's okay it was fun making it any way.

My kit for Dragonsinger is coming along nicely. I received her patterns in the mail and now........to shop for yarn. The handmade portion is coming along nicely. I hope to get it out early, but no too early.

Well, it has been quite a week. My son turned 15 years old on Thursday. Next year we'll be dealing with driving lessons, etc...... We had a Birthday Party for him last night and I had told him he could invite a few friends from school. Well, at one point, we had 24 teenage kids in the back yard. But, he had a great time. Ed made a fire in our portable fire pit and the kids sat around and had a good old time.

On the knitting front, Round 2 of Shuntbumping is today but I will only have a year to work on my project and then I'm taking a class at Knit Affair. I am making a Frankenstein hat for Anthony.

As for Rowan, my spoilee, I finally found the patterns I want to send her. I had some troubles, but I noticed a particular company in her blogs and profile. So I perused their on-line catalog and found the perfect pattern. Now for it to arrive so I can order yarn. I started my part of the project and it is coming along nicely. I hope she likes it!

Christmas came Early

Well a few weeks ago, I got this package from Thistle Lovegood who said it was a preview of what was too come. I got this lovely Mary Englebright cards (Mary is one of my favorites) some stickers for my scrapbooking and some cool kleenex for my purse, since I never seem to have any on hand when I need it.

Today, my husband brought me a big box and said "Christmas is here early" and sure enough it was. I got this lovely package with these awesome items;

a Pattern for Thistle's Wrist Warmers
two skeins of Sugar 'n Spice cotton
one skein of Tofutsie's sock yarn
double point needles in sizes 1 and 2 (I'm afraid they'll break in my big hands)
a tin with needle point protectors, tape measure, some lovely stitch markers in house colors and earrings.
a journal book with graph paper for charting out patterns
some yummy bath salts
sweets-chocolate flies and bubble gum and a "billywig" in green apple
a gauge marker (its so cute that Thistle thinks I actually check gauge)
and two books from my wish list that I cannot wait to peruse
ribbon with magnets which will look good on my notice board and a very cute magnet about the only decent vegetable being the olive in a martini (so true, so true)

Here is a close up of my earrings that say "Love 2 knit". My co-workers will want to take up knitting just so they can have a pair.

I love swaps, it's like Christmas and my birthday all rolled in to one at random times of the year. Thank you so much Thistle for the lovely package! The pattern looks like one I might actually be able to master.

Summer camp is almost over and I am so sad. I don't want it to be over. No more cabin chats, no more games, no more Great Lodge.

When does the next term begin? but it won't be the same, I won't be in the same dorm as Bevin Rae and Rowan, and Ferula and all my other cabin mates. I don't wanna go home, I'm a Hogwarts 'R Us kid.

Hello Campers,

Well first off, I need to apologize to my Billywig bunkmates because last week I totally blew it. I forgot to blog and I didn't get a chance to participate in Game 7 which means of course not helping with points. I make no excuses.

It's been a crazy week. The family is going on vacation Friday and I have been getting organized and I have a swap package and a R.A.O.K. that needs to get out before I leave. There ready to go but do I have the right size boxes? Noooooo, of course not.

Well this week, I hope to have my blogs done and my games completed before we head off into the mountains, where we will have full hook-up for the motor home and hopefully wifi so I can still check in during the down time. If we have any, my hubby has a full schedule laid out for us.

Okay, so off to my job........Have a good week campers.

Billywigs Blink Drink

Well in order to get our Billywigs to stop and have a drink with us, I have found this concoction to tempt them.

GERMAN CHOCOLATE MADDNESS:
*1 ounce International Delights Swiss chocolate creamer
*1 ounce International Delights southern butter pecan creamer
*dash shredded coconut
*1 cup ice

Blend creamers, coconut and ice together until smooth. Coat inside of a glass with Smucker's fat-free caramel syrup and fill with blended items. Top with whipped cream, a swirl of butter pecan, a sprinkle of coconut and a touch of pecan.

Mmmmmm........if this doesn't get them to stop for a minute then Idon't know what will.

Summertime Fun

My house growing up had a swimming pool, an average summer day in my hometown was 100 degrees plus, so a pool was a necessity not a luxury. Anyway, during the summer all the cousins would come and stay with my family. This was when cable tv first came out and was only on until about 2 AM, no 24/7 like now. We would watch movies till late and then go swimming at 2 AM. The water was always so warm and we'd have so much fun. Then we'd all crash and sleep until Noon the next day. Then we'd start the cycle all over again. Summertime was so much fun as a kid. Nothing to worry about but having fun.
